First things first… I must apologize for not posting about Deadspiders site long ago. My head must be so far into creation land that I could not see clearly. :::bows::: Me apologies Angie and good spooky vibes are still being sent your way in getting your health reigned in.

Deadspider is another prop/dark artist that I have admired from a distance. Most of us Home Haunters and fledgling dark artists tend to lurk in the shadows of the artists that inspire us. We watch, immitate, criticize our own work because it doesn’t compare to theirs, then we start to blossom. We slowly realize it isn’t about having our art look exactly like someone else’s but about finding ourselves in our own art. We never forget who inspires us though, even if we forget to thank them, and most of all we keep watching. Think of it like never forgetting your first grade teacher that you had the crush on.

Now Deadspider, beyond being utterly imaginative with a jar and a label, she is also an incredible prop artist. The first prop that I saw of hers was the Halloween Tree then there was the Winged Demons which I still want to create a version of. The one prop that got me creating was Mr. Hemlock Dench. I actually created a prop that I named Morimal Von Hearsestein, and still use in the cemetery haunt, that was inspired totally by Mr Dench.

Deadspider also has an Etsy shop and sells her Witch Potion jars along with other smaller Halloween items and dark art pieces.

Treat yourself and check out her sites, it’s no trick!

Here are a few pictures that were mentioned:

Mr Hemlock Dench

Grimvisions

I have watched Kurt, aka Krough, aka Grim create for a couple of years now. I have secretly oogled over his creations and when I saw Dolly for the first time I knew I would have to secretly stalk him.

Then there was Mr. Lo Pan, this prop was the ::: insert Angel chorus here ::: of prop building. He was so thought out and so complete. Not just your typical single standing prop, oh no. He had crates, and a flute, plus that hat! He took it to the next level and showed that it doesn’t need to be just a single creature standing on his own. The creature can and should have their own props to really stand out from the rest, and Mr. Lo Pan does that.

Since then Kurt has created many other prop heads and smaller bookshelf centerpieces. His mummy heads are something to check out. They could fool you if they were sitting in a museum!

I’ll show you a tidbit of his stuff, then you must jump on over to his site. He recently has done a few how-to’s on technique and products used, that are immensely helpful to the new comers and the long timers alike. He has also breathed life back onto some old props by re-blogging them. Don’t miss out, go check them out!

Dolly, click on her picture to go to her new blog entry.
