Extreme Halloween Makeover!! What??!!

I’m so excited for Ed Roberts!! I’m literally bouncing in my seat! ::: breathes ::: Ok check this out…

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is at the Oregon School for the Deaf…right now!!! The are redoing the Boys Dorms AND get this…AND redoing The Nightmare Factory as well!!

Guess who is over there helping? Give up? Chris and Jeff Davis, and their crew. I am sooooo envious!!! I would love to be there getting splinters, paint in my hair, blisters and exhaustion to help them out!

Now I know that us Halloween Haunt fanatics are excited due to the Nightmare Factory part, but the kids are getting the royal treatment on this. They are all going to Minnesota on behalf of the Starkey Foundation and will get a family vacation along with brand new hearing-aid’s for those that use/want/need them. Not to mention the Boys Dorm being rebuilt/designed. Rock on kids!!!

The Bloodshed boys…excuse me, the Bloodshed Brothers have done a vlog about it and they called and talked to Ed!! You have to watch this…awesome’ness!

Halloween magazines…

The Halloween mags are starting to hit the stores and I have picked up a couple. The only one I have found worth mentioning is Better Homes and Gardens. Why? Because Scott Smith of Rucus Studios created some halloween silhouettes at the request of the editor. I think I have the explanation right…if not Scott can set me straight.

This is Scott’s picture from his own blog, hope it’s ok for me to use this Scott, I have it linked back to his own blog post about the BHG entry.

I have also gone over to BHG website to snag the silhouettes that Scott had given them for the mag. To save some time I put them in my Google Doc’s and shared them to everyone. There are other silhouettes there from other submitters to BHG. These are all free to use per BHG. I will add more to the Google Doc’s as I find them online or as I make them. I’m also going to try to figure out a way to share my Google Doc’s through this here blog, just need to wrap my brain around it and do it. I am so smart, SMRT.

Here we are on Friday the 13th, the only one we will have this year so enjoy every minute of it folks! Did you know that the fear of Friday the 13th is called Friggatriskaidekaphobia? There is a bunch of info over on Wiki concerning Friday the 13th, you can find it here.
Mostly the Friday the 13th became to be known as an unlucky day because of the belief that Friday was an unlucky day and that the number 13 was an unlucky number, combine the two and you have super unlucky.

Google has a really cool time-line for Friday the 13th.

Spiderfest 2010…

This is so friggin awesome!! So get this, Chris Davis of Davis Graveyard came up with the webby idea for Halloween this year. First off… she is an Arachnophobic, so for her to come up with this idea is not only off the friggin hook, but I believe may be therapeutic to some degree. Ok, Ok… might not be therapeutic in a good way, but may just send her to therapy!!

Here is her original blog post with her idea that states:

I, the Frog Queen, being of (decidedly) unsound mind, asks my talented, good looking, brilliant and great taste in blogs haunters to make and send me creepy spiders (creepy was redundant wasn’t it?) for this “group Halloween prop” project.

Awesome!!! She goes on to mention she will have Marci take pics of the display and will send to people that participated in sending spiders. She would also like to make this idea a tradition and have it rotate through the Home Haunters every year. Flash mob type Halloween displays, with the Home Haunter picking the theme.

Chris I hope you get paid the big bucks at work… this is Marketing genius!!!

More coolness… she has created a blog for Spiderfest. Actually Guy of House of Bloodthorn setup the blog for Chris so she can post about her precious spider infestation. You never know… maybe Chris will take up spider collecting along with her froggy’ness. I’m thinking…not.

Independence Mine, Alaska

The fam and I went up to Independence Mine yesterday. Independence is a mine that has been closed since 1951 and had been left almost the same way as when everyone left. There are a few buildings that they keep restored slightly, but otherwise most are falling apart. It was much different the last time I was up there some 30 years ago.
I love finding the old rusty bits of equipment and chipping paint, old windows and doors. There isn’t a creepy feel to the place really, the surrounding view doesn’t allow for it, but it can be claustrophobic when the fog rolls in.

So I have become addicted. I will tell you to what here in just a sec, but first I wanted to say that no intervention is necessary. I totally own this addiction and in fact have no intention of ‘breaking the cycle’. I will stand up and proudly announce that I have become addicted to….

The Bloodshed Brothers Vlog!!

I know there are others of like addiction out there and I’m going to out Chris Davis in this ‘coming out’ blog. I will tell you now that I intend, as time permits, to be pushers of these here Bloodshed Brothers and you shall not resist me. I have been living vicariously through these two on the Garage Sale/Thrift Store escapades. Embarrassing to say that I am drawn to watching them shop for ‘finds’ ::: hangs head ::: Gawd forbid they ever start to do real time shopping video’s!! I will be doomed!!

So who are these Bloodshed Brothers that I speak of? They are none other than Zach and Jeromy Ball of Temecula, Ca. They are born haunters and only being 22 years old, have a long haunting life ahead of them, not to mention many years to entertain us.
They run a home, walk through style, haunt during Halloween that attracts some 900 attendants! Now that is just friggin awesome in itself!

If you haven’t checked these guys out, get yer butts on over to You Tube and watch for yourself. I will save you a seat at the next BBA (Bloodshed Brothers Anonymous) meeting.

So Oprah is having a contest over on her OWN site, OWN stands for Oprah Winfrey Network, btw. What does this have to do with Spooky’ness you ask, well let me tell ya.
She is having this contest for people to try to get their own show, it’s called Your OWN Show. Get it? Yeah.. ok. The point…

There is this awesome man by the name of James W. Thompson Jr. that has entered this here contest and get this…

“The Haunt” takes viewers on a design journey exposing them to all aspects of theme park haunt development, construction and show/pre show production. Watch a select group of home haunt enthusiasts compete against each other, testing their creativity, their guts, and their ability to scare, even the toughest, out of their pants; battle for the title of Haunt Master.

Yup, you read that right! He is wanting to do a show about Haunts!! Haunts!!! Home haunters will be involved even. Now the catch… You must vote for him. The top 5 people will be finalists, but I’m sure they will do something for runners up. We have got to get this man up in the running people! He is out there speaking for all of us Haunters and Haunt lovers. Let the world know that we not only exist but we exist in LARGE numbers! We will be seen and we will be feared… ok, not really feared unless you want us to scare you.

It’s Easter and a happy day to you all. No matter your Easter traditions, I wish you all a wondrous time with them. As for me? The fam is going to a buffet around 3pm and that will about cover it. I may do a little bit of artsy’ness later. I have a new idea swimming in my head and have set aside the last project I was working on. It wasn’t going the direction I originally intended so until it whispers to me what it really wants to be, I will let it rest.
