West Coast Haunters Convention!!!

The West Coast Haunters Convention…yes you heard me right! This year will be it’s 3rd annual event and I have decided I’m going!! I will need to start saving money and selling artsy stuff to do it but I’ve made up my mind and I already bought the event tickets.
The only thing that will stop me is a family emergency or some other financial emergency.

Ed Roberts, the founder of WCHC and his minions are still working out some details for Make and Takes, seminars, etc but it should be off the hook!!

WCHC will be June 1-3rd 2012 and will be at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Portland, Oregon.

Kyle Murphy that is Som Ep’ Laceak took video while we were doing the photo shoot. His daughter is Olivia Murphy and is the young girl you see in the video and it is her picture that I have used my Facebook profile picture. She does creepy so well.

Yesterday I went out on a photo shoot with Rebecca Belcher to Gateway to Darkness Haunted Attraction. For those of you that don’t know, GtD is the only Pro Haunt in Alaska and they hold the bar very high compared to all of the Non-Profit Haunts we have. Michelle and Sam Marsh are the owners and both are active within the haunt.
The main theme of the shoot was ghostly haunted with the models wearing mainly whites and grays. Michelle worked the airbrush for whiting out faces while a couple of her makeup artists did the detail work. Sorry, I didn’t catch their names.
There were four photographers total, Rebecca Belcher, Sandee Rice, Mark Laroza and John, that I need to verify the last name of, and one videographer Kyle Murphy that is Som Ep’Laceak Media. The number of models numbered somewhere in the 12-15 range. Most were professional models both female and male. A few males, that had come with female models, were persuaded to join in the on the fun. Who can say no to dressing up before Halloween??!!
We had roughly four hours of shooting time, which seemed to fly by once everyone got into the flow of things. All in all it was really fun running around in the dark, the hard part was leaving and having to return to the bright reality of the outside world.

I’m going to post a few pictures for now, when the photographers make them available I will provide more and update the names of the male photographers.

Extreme Halloween Makeover!! What??!!

I’m so excited for Ed Roberts!! I’m literally bouncing in my seat! ::: breathes ::: Ok check this out…

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is at the Oregon School for the Deaf…right now!!! The are redoing the Boys Dorms AND get this…AND redoing The Nightmare Factory as well!!

Guess who is over there helping? Give up? Chris and Jeff Davis, and their crew. I am sooooo envious!!! I would love to be there getting splinters, paint in my hair, blisters and exhaustion to help them out!

Now I know that us Halloween Haunt fanatics are excited due to the Nightmare Factory part, but the kids are getting the royal treatment on this. They are all going to Minnesota on behalf of the Starkey Foundation and will get a family vacation along with brand new hearing-aid’s for those that use/want/need them. Not to mention the Boys Dorm being rebuilt/designed. Rock on kids!!!

The Bloodshed boys…excuse me, the Bloodshed Brothers have done a vlog about it and they called and talked to Ed!! You have to watch this…awesome’ness!

I had my Halloween spark re-ignited yesterday. I went out to Wasilla so that I could stop by Gateway to Darkness to meet Michelle and to see the haunt. She renewed my faith in haunted attractions in Alaska. I had completely given up on there ever being any haunts worth going through up here. Gateway to Darkness is definitely a change from what has been plaguing Alaska for many many years. Gateway is in their third year, if I heard Michelle right, and this year the haunts theme is Insane Asylum. I won’t give anything away except to say… you have to go!!! Take your Depends with you!!
