First things first… I must apologize for not posting about Deadspiders site long ago. My head must be so far into creation land that I could not see clearly. :::bows::: Me apologies Angie and good spooky vibes are still being sent your way in getting your health reigned in.

Deadspider is another prop/dark artist that I have admired from a distance. Most of us Home Haunters and fledgling dark artists tend to lurk in the shadows of the artists that inspire us. We watch, immitate, criticize our own work because it doesn’t compare to theirs, then we start to blossom. We slowly realize it isn’t about having our art look exactly like someone else’s but about finding ourselves in our own art. We never forget who inspires us though, even if we forget to thank them, and most of all we keep watching. Think of it like never forgetting your first grade teacher that you had the crush on.

Now Deadspider, beyond being utterly imaginative with a jar and a label, she is also an incredible prop artist. The first prop that I saw of hers was the Halloween Tree then there was the Winged Demons which I still want to create a version of. The one prop that got me creating was Mr. Hemlock Dench. I actually created a prop that I named Morimal Von Hearsestein, and still use in the cemetery haunt, that was inspired totally by Mr Dench.

Deadspider also has an Etsy shop and sells her Witch Potion jars along with other smaller Halloween items and dark art pieces.

Treat yourself and check out her sites, it’s no trick!

Here are a few pictures that were mentioned:

I have watched Kurt, aka Krough, aka Grim create for a couple of years now. I have secretly oogled over his creations and when I saw Dolly for the first time I knew I would have to secretly stalk him.

Then there was Mr. Lo Pan, this prop was the ::: insert Angel chorus  here ::: of prop building. He was so thought out and so complete. Not just your typical single standing prop, oh no. He had crates, and a flute, plus that hat! He took it to the next level and showed that it doesn’t need to be just a single creature standing on his own. The creature can and should have their own props to really stand out from the rest, and Mr. Lo Pan does that.

Since then Kurt has created many other prop heads and smaller bookshelf centerpieces. His mummy heads are something to check out. They could fool you if they were sitting in a museum!

I’ll show you a tidbit of his stuff, then you must jump on over to his site. He recently has done a few how-to’s on technique and products used, that are immensely helpful to the new comers and the long timers alike. He has also breathed life back onto some old props by re-blogging them. Don’t miss out, go check them out!

William Bezek amazes me. I do not know what he goes by to his friends and family, Wil, Bill, Willy, Billy, Bez, etc., but what I do know is for a man that I have never met, he amazes me. I may find myself saying that about many artists but each one amazes in their own way. Bezek seems to have a  sense of his surroundings that many wish they could. He see’s things, he sentiments them,  he creates them, at least from what I can see from across the internet.

So his newly posted Voodoo Queen is another to add to the list of amazement’s.  I won’t write about her anymore than to say you must go to his site to read the story he has written and to see all of the pictures that go with her.

Here is a taste, clicking on the picture will take you to her blog entry:

Curiomira Blog by Jacob Petersson. Jacob is a Swedish prop and art creator and he produces some wonderfully  spooky art! Just a peek at his website made me add him to my links and RSS feeds. Lova lova lova his stuff.

Here is what Jacob had to say on his first blog post, dated May 16th 2009:

First of all excuse my English, I’m Swedish, but will try to keep this international. This blog is meant to serve as a stand-in until I (some day, hopefully) get myself a proper homepage. Here I will post pictures of my ”art”… or whatever you like to call it.

All of my creations you see here are built from scratch, including woodwork, sculpting, painting, metalwork…ect. There are very few, if any. pre-finished parts. Each piece has many weeks, or even months of blood, sweat, and hard thinking put into it. It’s my ambition to make the unreal as realistic as possible and the fantastic believable.

Every creation is meant to tell a story to the viewer, or act as the ignition spark to your own imagination.

It’s worth noting that I’m not the worlds best photographer, and these things can be quite hard to photograph, they are many times better in the real world. But I will do my best

Well, Well, more to come…

Here is one of his creations that I simply adore,

Laurie has completed her Ophelia the Witch full sized art sculpt.
Lauriebeast at Halloween Forum
Lauriebeast’s Photobucket

Ophelia is absolutly gorgeous, if you can say that about an old hag. Heh!

Here is what Laurie’s comments were on creating her:
I finally finished this old gal. She was fun and challenging, but I really enjoyed every aspect of this build.
Her head and arms/hands were made using styrofoam, Celluclay, and Paperclay. Her body was made using wadded up newspaper, fiberfill stuffing, and quilt batting. Her stand is made of 3/4″ galvanized pipe and a 24″ round plywood base with castors.
The eyes are handpainted over a downloaded iris print after being glued onto a 1″ wooden ball. Eyelashes were applied using fake ones trimmed and inserted into tiny holes with super glue.
The outfit is a combination of vintage textiles (shawl, apron, and skirt) as well as newer fabric. I used both fabric dye and acrylic paint to dirty her up.
Her hair is made up of very small pieces of an acrylic wig and glued on. She stands 5’6″ tall.
Here are a couple of photos of Ophelia. Clicking on the picture will take you to the photo album of Ophelia.

Jodi Creager over at Creager Studios is an amazing artist, her blog can be found here. Her and her hubby have been artists for 32 some years and they have been together for even longer. It’s amazing to see couples come together with something they not only love to do but are stupendous at.

I showcased their work before but must show you a couple of creations I had missed as of late.

First is the witch hat… It is 1:12th scale

Clicking on the image will open it’s blog entry(s).
